Binary-vs-decimal Memes

Someone just discovered that storage manufacturers use base-10 (1TB = 1,000GB) while operating systems use base-2 (1TB = 1,024GB), and they're about to have a breakdown over the "missing" 200GB. Nobody tell them about how much space the file system overhead takes up, or that their advertised internet speeds are also in bits not bytes. Let them have this moment of innocence before reality crushes their soul. Fun fact: This marketing practice has been going on since floppy disks, and there have been actual lawsuits about it. Storage companies won because technically 1000^3 bytes IS a terabyte in decimal. The binary version (1024^3) is technically called a "tebibyte" but literally nobody uses that term except pedantic Wikipedia editors.
