32 MB of RAM. That's less memory than a single Discord tab uses today. Yet somehow people were out here running entire operating systems, playing games, and doing actual work. Windows 98 would boot up, load Paint, and still have enough RAM left over for Minesweeper. Now your Slack client needs 4GB just to send "k" in a DM. That beige tower was peak luxury. The CRT monitor that could double as a space heater. The keyboard that weighed more than modern laptops. You'd wait 3 minutes for the computer to boot and think "wow, technology is amazing." Today people complain if their M2 MacBook takes 8 seconds to wake from sleep. Fun fact: Windows 98 required a minimum of 16 MB of RAM. Having 32 MB meant you were basically living in the future. You could open Internet Explorer AND Notepad at the same time without the system having an existential crisis.
