Companies slap MIT or BSD licenses on their code and parade around like they just saved humanity. Meanwhile, actual open source purists are sitting there with their GPL licenses, watching these "generous gods" allow corporations to take the code, close it up, and sell it back to you as SaaS. The permissive licenses basically say "do whatever you want, even if it's evil" while GPL is the one that actually forces derivative work to stay open. But sure, call yourself generous for letting Amazon build a billion-dollar product off your weekend project without contributing a single line back. Richard Stallman is somewhere nodding approvingly at this meme.
