Firewire Memes

FireWire was supposed to be the hot new standard that would revolutionize data transfer back in the '90s. Fast forward 30+ years and it's still clinging to life with the same connector design, now just with more pins crammed in there like it's trying to compensate for something. Meanwhile, USB went through like 47 different iterations, killed off half the ports on your laptop, and somehow FireWire is STILL here looking exactly the same but "upgraded." It's like that one friend who peaked in high school and keeps showing up to reunions with the same haircut but insists they're doing great.

The irony of technology evolution in one image. In 2005, FireWire was this sleek, compact connector that made USB look like a clumsy dinosaur. Fast forward to 2025 (in this alternate timeline), and apparently FireWire decided to transform into what looks like the power supply for a small nuclear reactor. It's giving strong "I need to connect my computer to the space station" vibes. Somewhere, a hardware engineer is looking at this and thinking, "Yes, but can we add MORE pins?" Because clearly, what we all want is a connector that requires a building permit to install.
