Classic Microsoft product lifecycle—they announce the death of a service, everyone moves on, but the app itself didn't get the memo and keeps haunting your system tray like a ghost that won't leave. The "dummy string" notifications are the chef's kiss here—even in its zombie state, Skype is still pushing useless placeholder messages. It's like watching a corpse twitch.
