BBC brings on a "cyber correspondent" to discuss a critical PHP vulnerability, and the guy casually admits he didn't even know PHP existed until yesterday morning. Meanwhile, he's explaining to millions how cybercriminals could exploit it to deface websites and plant malicious code. Nothing inspires confidence quite like a security expert who just discovered one of the most widely-used server-side languages on the planet approximately 18 hours ago. Really makes you wonder what his qualifications are. "I can use Google" probably tops the resume. The best part? He's still managing to sound more authoritative than the average Stack Overflow answer. At least he's honest about his ignorance, which is more than you can say for most "cybersecurity experts" on TV.
